An AFC home is a licensed residential home, usually with 5 or fewer residents, where caregivers provide 24/7 care in a family setting. They're smaller, warmer, and more affordable than large assisted living facilities.
How much does an AFC home cost?+
In Oregon, AFC homes typically range from $4,500 to $8,500 per month depending on care level, room type, and amenities. Many homes accept Medicaid for qualifying residents.
How is this different from assisted living?+
AFC homes are residential — a regular house in a neighborhood with 4–5 residents and dedicated caregivers. Assisted living facilities are larger, more institutional, and often more expensive.
